Born in 1953 in Price, Utah, artist Jim Norton grew up in mining towns of the Western states. Later, as a young man, he spent two years near Perth, Australia, on a mission for his church. There in the Outback, the Cowboy life very typical of the historical American West was still very much alive. The experiences of those days nurtured in Norton's heart a deep love of the cowboy culture and a shaped his perspective on life.
